The horse, painted by Linda Dickson, is at First National Bank & Trust Co. at the corner of Union and MacArthur. It bears three logos: First National Bank & Trust Co.'s logo; the American Red Cross logo; and Sonic Drive-In's logo.

Who is that masked horse?

Friday, First National Bank & Trust Co., American Red Cross and Wintco Inc. Sonic joined forces for the unveiling of Masquerade.

downtown,"We are very excited to serve as an official location for the newest horse in Shawnee, and we feel privileged to be sponsoring with the American Red Cross and Wintco Inc. Sonic." said Larry Briggs, president and CEO of First National Bank & Trust Co.

Local artisan, Linda Dixon, painted the life-size fiberglass horse. Appropriately named Masquerade, the horse is disguised behind a mask and features an intricate design, including the FNB, American Red Cross and Wintco Inc. Sonic logos.

"We are honored to be associated with First National Bank and the American Red Cross to sponsor the horse, Masquerade," said John Winterringer, president of Wintco Inc. Sonic. "It's a wonderful approach to raise awareness about the local chapter of the American Red Cross while supporting the great city of Shawnee."

In conjunction with the unveiling, the American Red Cross also commenced Heroes for the American Red Cross on Friday, a fundraising campaign that will last throughout March. Local businesses, organizations and individuals are invited to contribute. The American Red Cross' goal is to raise $25,000 in one month.

"This is an ambitious goal for the American Red Cross, but we are confident that the citizens of Shawnee will meet this challenge," Katie Noffsker, service center manager for the American Red Cross said.

"The support of the community allows the American Red Cross to help local residents prepare and respond to emergencies if and when the need arises."

First National Bank, a Hero for the American Red Cross, is the exclusive location where citizens can make contributions to the Heroes for the American Red Cross campaign. Donations can be dropped off at First National Bank at 130 E. MacArthur.

"First National Bank & Trust Co. is proud to support the American Red Cross because they help so many of our community members in times of need," said Larry Briggs, president and CEO of First National Bank. "It's very fulfilling to work collaboratively and assist the American Red Cross in reaching their goal, knowing the lives that will be impacted in the future."
